Liu Xiaowei, director of the Cemetery Management Center, told reporters that most of these precious martyrs came from Wang Lianzeng, a red collector in Hebei. Wang Lianzeng’s collection of the elderly has a set of《烈士英名录》edited by the Political Department of the Shanxi-Hebei-Shandong-Henan Military Region in May 1947. It records the direct team of the Eighth Route Army Headquarters, the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army, the Shanxi Youth War of Resistance, the Taihang and Taiyue local armed forces. More than 19,000 people who died for the country during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, including the name, position, place of origin, age, enlistment, time of joining the party, and the time and place of participation in the battle.
In May 2014, Wang Lianzeng was entrusted by Comrade Guan Guoqing, the director of the Wuxiang County Civil Affairs Bureau at that time. With reference to《武乡县志》, Wuxiang County map,《武乡县地方地名志》and other materials, he found the anti-Japanese war through more than three months of careful investigation. During the period, there were 558 martyrs who died in more than 40 battles in Changle Village, Guanjiatun, Shimen and Miaoyangpo of Wuxiang County.
